I have a John Deere LA100 Lawn tractor. Bought it new in 2005 Worked good for two years, now every time I put in garage between cuts for a week or two the battery is dead. I have to jump it to get started. Now when running it is charging, running lights are fine when running. When not used for that short time something is draining the battery. Has anyone had this problem or know of a fix would be great. Someone said might be a Diode in the system.
Too reasons for batteries going flat
1) bad battery self discharging
2) faulty regulator attempting turning the alternator into a motor
Doing as Mac advised will allow you to determine which one is causing the flat battery
You must have a power draw check the electric blade clutch or anything that might stay warm.

If this battery is much more than a year or two old it could very well be the battery. Have it check....
I know people get 2-4-6-8 years out of some BUT some only last 6 months.
There a reason most only put a 30-90 day warranty on them.
