Buddys got a 13 hp white with a Briggs and Stratton enine and it barely rolls over when plug is in with a fully charged battery. The engine model number is looks like 296777. Any ideas
If the mower is old the starter brushes could be worn down to the point they aren't making good contact. I also had a farm tractor, 6 volt, that just barely rolled over and the problem with it was it had bad wire connections. I took all connections loose and cleaned and wire brushed them and the problem was solved.
I googled your wiring diagram and there's a lot of stuff to look at. Check it out, https://www.google.com/?ion=1&espv=2#q=13+HP+White+lawn+mower+wiring+diagram ,... I found nothing by your B&S model #. Does the engine spin freely by hand? I like to play with this kind of stuff and would jump straight to the starter with jumper cables to see if it would start but that's up to you. Possibly the solenoid might be bad. Have you tried starting it by going around it?
Yes I never found anything on Google either. Model number is hard to make out. I tried directly to starter but it rolls over fine then as soon as it seems to build pressure it starts to slow down, at least that's what it seems to me. I've replaced the solenoid with a good one and you still don't get that click when you try to engage the starter with the key. That's why I thought it might be wiring as it was working good then this
This is exactly what happens when the valve lash is too big and the engine can not decompress but don't let me spoil your fun if you like to rewire things.
