I have a BS Intek 344cc 12.5hp (219907 0131 B1) that was allowing gas past the carb to the sump. I attempted to get the needle to seat with no luck so I purchased an aftermarket carb. After installation, engine surged and backfired, which it didn't do with original carb. I removed float assembly from new carb and installed on original but engine still backfires. Can anyone offer any advise? Thanks

Which carb do you have ???

Walbro or Nikki ??? The Nikki is the carb with the plastic and the noodle gasket as we call it....

The Walbro has a regular round gasket for the bowl......

Backfiring can be caused by 3 things....

1st thing valves
2nd thing bad valve guide
3rd thing head gasket and that just might be your culprit for the gas passing thru..........

Let us know Mon Ami ~!~!

Are you saying: "It is running great now on the replacement carburetor...after I turned the needle over...problem solved.

This is so anyone with a similar problem and reads your thread might be helped.
