The white smoke was caused by water in the system, probably settle in the tank. At the end of the season run all the gas out and loosen the bolt on the bottom of the card to drain, then tighten. That way you will start next season fresh. Good luck, I hope it keeps working.

Ive mowed my grass for a second time now without any real trouble. When starting this last time the engine had some ka chugga chugga action for 10-15 seconds but after that everything smoothed out and ran fine.

I would use your Lucas cleaner a couple more times to give the carb a good cleaning.
