have a b/s 24 hp model 44s877-0040-g1 , compression 50 psi on one cylinder 60 psi on other one. replaced one coil have both cylinders firing. engine will start run for a little amount of time, but will start right back up, acts like it runs out of gas fuel pump good, solenoid bad but stays open. someone suggested due to low compression when engine heats up rings not sealing thus lossing all compression which causes engine to shutdown..leak down verifies rings bad on both cylinders. so would bad rings cause engine to stop running due to compression lose.

Bad rings will foul the spark plug & produce enough smoke to rid the surrounding 5 mile area of mosquitoes .
You need to start eliminating things one at a time
1) electrical fault in ignition
Remove the kill wires from both coils
Problem goes away = bad safety switch, ignition switch or short to ground .
2 Remove the fuel solenoid from carb and replace it with a bolt & O ring to prevent fuel leaking
Problem goes away = bad solenoid or wiring to solenoid
Pinch the fuel tank from your push mower, motorcycle etc and rig it up directly to the carb so it can gravity feed
Problem goes away = obstruction in the fuel supply system.

Could have excess carbon holding valves open on an oil smoker engine.
Valve guides interfering with valves closing.
Dead rings.
Never adjusted valve clearances.
Leaking head gaskets passing oil.
