B&S 6.0 not getting any gas

Help! My sister in law's Scotts mower with a B&S 6.0 gear driven motor hasn't been started in a few years. It fired for a second or two and gas was dripping profusely out of the hole near the carburetor and opposite the primer. Suddenly, the gas stopped dripping and priming it was not allowing any gas at all into the carburetor. So, not getting any gas certainly won't allow it start. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Do you plan on working on it yourself? If you are, There are some good videos on utube about how to remove, disassemble, clean and reassemble a carb. If your lucky you may find a video that is like your carb. Most the time the same process applies to most carburetors. You may have to buy a carburetor rebuild kit. I would get some carb cleaner. Remove and clean the carb inside and out, replace fuel filter, check to make sure the inside of the gas tank and fuel lines are good and clean. Those utube videos make things easier to understand. It sounds like your needle and seat may be dirty or your float has got fuel inside it that stops it from floating. Plugged fuel filter or lines. I hope you get your mower running. Good luck

Just got a B&S in my shop running with the same situation. I socked the carburetor in cleaner for two days and filled the tank with Pine-Sol and let set. Then I rinsed everything with water. Then installed a new pickup tube and carburetor kit. Runs good.
