I have recently aquired a Commodore B17 mower. It has a battery starter, and the battery is dead. Is this a rechargable battery, and if so what voltage and other settings should I look for on a charger. Would be very grateful if anybody has some advice on this.

Yes, it is a 12 volt SLA battery that is rechargeable. Any 12 volt charger with SAE leads should work. If the battery will not take a charge, you will need to replace it. You may have a hard time finding a new OEM battery, but should be able to adapt a standard 12 volt 5 Ah battery, which is the correct size to fit into the battery box.

Dear Mike. Many thanks for your prompt reply. I have a 12v charger so will give it a go. One other question that you may have some advice on.
The throttle cable needs to be changed. I have sourced the cable, but I am unable to split the top and bottom parts of the actuator. I have attached a picture . Any advice gratefully welcomed.

That little red piece might be some sort of latch that you can press to release it.
