I recently replaced the original Kohler engine with a new Briggs on my Ariens Zoom 1840 zero-turn mower (model 915087) but now am having problems with the hydros. The hydros work for about 30 seconds and then slow to a stop, no power. Seems like the belt is slipping, right? The belt looks tight to me. The hydros worked prior to the engine swap. I plan to try a new belt but is there something else I should consider? Any ideas you all have would be appreciated. Thanks!

Quick & nasty check.
Both hydros fail around the same time = belt failure
Only 1 hydro fails = hydro problem
The left usually fails before the right .

Considering what you have posted my immediate thoughts is towards the key in the engine pulley failing or fallen out & not noticed .
We have all done it, some more than others
