Repairs Ariens 15/40

I just bought an Ariens 15/40 used .

The guy said he thought the belt tension springs were weak . The blades slowed down in high grass .
Belt seem's tight to me so my question is ...... does the electric clutch either work or not work or is it possible to be going out in stages ?

I checked and it does have 12 volts to the clutch . At first it only slowed down in heavy grass but now it does not rev up at all .

Figured it out and maybe this will help someone else .

I pulled the deck to get to the clutch ........when I release the clutch engaging lever or whatever that thing is called it came off in my hand . The bolt holding it had sheared off .

Replaced the bolt and all is well .:dance1:
