Sadly My 244 has started whining,
and the oil is full in the reservoir,
our second transmission, bought
used from a fire damaged 244
and it leaks anyway through
the axle shafts etc.
As wheel horse is no longer in the
market with riders and I cannot
deal with a ZTR as I need a unit
that will work the year round in
a lot of crappy ground hauling
wood and moving snow when
its needed.
I like the JD 2305 and how small
it is, but I have not checked on
a price for it without a mower,
I do want a loader for it for sure
as I want to be able to manage
my fire wood as i resplit a huge
volume to allow it to burn better.
I was offerd a hundred dollars for it in
trade value for a BX1860 -2360 etc.
Second mower deck, original engine and
snow plow, (new electric clutch, starter,
and coil are 2-3 years old after repair;
second main drive belt-I was told it was old iron then HA,HA,
double snow chains and concrete wheel weights,
wheel weight bolts, new air filter and oil filter
yet to be installed, two new tie rods -one yet to be installed.
I barely put 50 hours on it a year,
it needs a new seat but it still works ok.
Its just old, and I dont want to have it die on me when
I am pushing snow or hauling firewood.
I hate gambling on machinery and as the second transmission
was the same age when bought and installed 5 years ago and
undamaged from the fire; etc......
If you have some oil leaks it might be sucking air.which COULD be some of your trouble.
Dont let it go for 100 bucks. Old horses deserve better than that,,,LOL

The Wheel horse 244 was more a lawn mower then a tractor. Its transmission is a Eaton 750 which is light duty and not made for heavy duty pulling like the 312 or 314 models Wheel Horses made in them years.
