Hi, it was flooding out throat, so I checked the float and it had gas in it. I put in a new (plastic) float, replaced the gas intake needle seat and injected carb cleaner thru all proper orifices. This carb is about 15+ years old, does not have any screw adjustments. I made sure that the gas intake needle that suspends from the float is seating ok and that the float is level. Also, I tested by blowing into the gas intake (where gas line attaches) and no leaks when float depressed and heard good flow of air when I
caused the float to raise up the needle . The bowel was reattached properly (the indented portion toward the needle valve.) When I try to start it, it runs for 3 seconds and dies. If I keep skirting gas into the carb throat, it will run. The screw that holds the bowel on is the type that has the 2 holes on either side, just under the screw head and one small hole near the beginning of the threads. This is NOT the type of screw that has openings in the nut head that is exterior to the bowl. Those holes and the screw itself are absolutely clean and open. Obviously I screwed something up in the process. I did n ot take out the main venturi when I cleaned all other aspects. But I blew carb cleaner up thru it from the bowl end. Your help is appreciated... the lawn is growing while I spend time trying to sort this out !!
