This is the model of the Craftsman mower I have. I was using it to mow when it suddenly stopped moving. I checked and the belt is still intact, but it will not go forward or backward. I don’t know anything about this mower so anything I can check to get it moving would be great.

May want to double check that model number. The Sears parts site is showing that model number listed as a grass catcher not a mower.

Thank you. That was on a sticker on the back of the mower, where would the correct model number be listed?

Should be under the seat. Most are not attached to the seat, but you raise the seat up to read the number on the sticker on the flat area under the seat.

The model number under the seat is 917.273639. I don’t know if this mower has a linkage to engage the transmission or if it is belt driven. I didn’t see but one belt when I looked under it today, and that was going to the deck.

There is a second belt tucked up inside the frame that goes from the engine to the transmission pulley on top Part number 130801 which supercedes to 532138255

Do you know how easy or difficult it is to replace that belt?

Deck needs to come off for better access. The electric pto clutch needs to be removed, which in most cases will fall off when the bolt is removed The most difficult part of the belt replacement will hinge on, will the main drive belt come off of the crankshaft to remove the belt, or will you have to unbolt the engine to be able to move the engine around to work the belt off of the pulley.

Thank you, I’ll be trying it soon
