Is the oil/gas ratio 16 or 32 to one? Also, anyone have an owner's manual for this mower? Thanks in advance.
 
Most of the older LawnBoy's used a 32/1 mix. I would recommend you purchase one of the new synthetic oils (such as Opti 2) which can be use in any 2-cycle engine, no matter the fuel/oil ratio. You won't have to worry. Owners manual for these older unit are hard to find. Maybe you'll get lucky and someone has one they will photocopy for you.
 
Take the muffler off and look into the exhaust ports, rotate the crankshaft until you can see the piston rings. Count the rings. a 3-ring piston requires 16-1 ratio, a 2-ring piston requires 32-1. Please don't go below 32-1 ratio even with new oils, as you are courting disaster.
 
Been running the synthetic oils for the past 6 years (both at the shop and personal use) and have yet to have any type of fuel ratio failure. Gone from 4 gas cans to 1. With the number of two cycle units I've seen using this, I think I would have seen at least one problem if I was courting disaster. Everything from the $1.98 Weedeater to $600 chainsaws.

I pretty much have always ran 32:1 on everything I own both the Lawnboy and Homelite 30cc string trimmer although the trimmer calls for 40:1 I really haven't really had any real problems using 32:1 and with the advances in lubrication technology in the last 10 years probably won't!!
