8 inch stripe longer grass being left?

I have the 60inch deck. 2024 bought new last summer. I forget the model. I can get if relevant. This issue was fixed last fall under warranty. The tech came out last fall to fix a loose bolt on the steering handles So it wouldn't start. I mentioned to him I waited my whole life to get a good professional grade zero turn and look what it does. My BF bought me this high end model with seat Suspension and everything. I show him I need to make two passes so effectively I only have a 2.5 ft deck. He did something. Problem went away. I probably only put max 20 hours on after the fix. Problem came back again this spring After around another 6 hours. If I make one pass with mower in anything higher than 4 inches I get a 6/8 inch wide stripe that hasn't been cut or maybe partially cut. I replaced blades hoping for a fix. No luck.. now I am supposed to bring it back to shop yet again or pay 150 an hour from when they leave the shop AND 1.30 per miles to have them come out again. So I will need to load on trailer and take it back over. Anyone here have any idea how to fix? Is this something permanent with this mower? I am so incredibly disappointed.

pic but needed to be much reduced otherwise too large

Mowers work better with certain blades. It's a deck and blade companionship deal. Deck height also comes into play.

Guessing you are using the stock OEM blades? Just read again you replaced the blades. What blades did you put on?

To me that picture looks like a low wet spot???

Is the deck packed up with clippings?

Do you mow when the grass is wet?

Are you side slinging or mulching in the weeds?

Are the blades all installed the same, or is one upside down? I've seen it happen before. Also, all of the blades should be identical. It's easy to get a set of mixed size blades when purchased (loose on the shelf) at the box stores.

Nice catch Auto Doc. Bought several mowers with the same condition. "Just doesn't cut right".......... LOL

This was happening before I replaced the blades. Blades are brand new via ag tractor where we bought mower. When they replaced the blades they also cleaned everything out from under deck. Not a low wet spot. Mower does this everywhere. Grass was not wet. Side slinging.

To my knowledge both blades are on correctly. And they are OEM. Mower was doing this before blade replacement. And is still doing it after. Same behavior. mower did same thing when it was brand new too. Shop fixed it. It only stayed 'fixed' for a short while.

I think the guy did this but..... I will have to ask. I don't work on mowers. I am a woman and not the mechanical type. I turn the key and it starts. Now give me an Austin Martin race car and I can drive it successfully on the racetrack at over 200mph (don't expect me to know how the engine works outside the basics ) or an AF mainframe and I can hack in Or rewrite your database. This damn mower just is annoying.

I am guessing the problem , when fixed under warranty by their repairman , was never discussed ?

where exactly does this 6-8" stripe appear? Left side, middle, or right side.....? A picture shooting at ground level might be better...

No and the shop doesn't remember who they sent. I asked service manager

Right hand side. In heavier grass it is much more noticeable

The make and model or the manufacturer label information is needed from you. We are basically guessing at this point. Help us help you. There is no one answer to your query.

Is this an equipment dealer purchased mower or a "big box store" purchased unit? (Lowe's, Home Depot, Tractor Supply Co. etc.)

When I worked as a Service manager for a JD dealer, we occasionally received new riders with bent deck housings from mishandling when loaded on the shipping platform crates at the factory. Many had to have the deck shell replaced.

This issue needs to be properly addressed with the salesman who sold you the unit if it was at a dealer. Or it needs to be addressed by the repair shop Service Manager. They need to own this problem and not play "kick the can" with it.

They need to pick it up and take it to the repair shop, actually mow with it and figure out the problem(s) Sending a mobile repair person is usually no good in this situation and just cost you more money.

I suspect one of the spindles is seized a bit and/or Belt is too loose. Get it up in the air and with Blade rotation OFF, reach under and see if they rotate with equal ease. Sorry for your luck. Check what was done on last service call and get your BF to man up.

I have had similar problems in the past if the deck belt was not routed correctly. Some decks have a belt routing diagram on them for reference.

The other possibility is the deck belt is a "generic" and/or is not the exact length. If a deck belt is not correct the blade speed is reduced, especially in heavy grass. The heavier the grass the worse the cut.

Never did see your machine information. We need the machine make and model along with the machine label information. The is no real answers without this information, just guessing and speculation.

Ditto on the make and model #...

A 60in deck usually = 3 blades. Maybe the blade on the right is missing, loose, upside down as previous poster stated etc. Pictures and more pictures along with make and model #. Help us help you.

I need make and model of your mower. A pic would also be nice. Maybe I can help you.

I am with the upside-down blade or a loose blade

Did this problem just start happening, or has it always done this? -- If it has always done this, it could be a bad deck where one of the spindle cut out is wrong. Is the belt on correctly. Belt maybe slipping on the blade that is not cutting the 6-8 inch strip. Go thru the middle of your non cut grass and see which blade is not cutting.
make sure under deck is clean. Make sure all the bolts on blades are tight, blade could be slipping. Raise the deck and place all blades in a straight line across deck and check the distance between each blade.

do you know the name brand of the mower and what is it called or a number of it, meaning like Cub Cadet, yellow horse, something to head us in somewhere of the right direction, the size of the deck, 48,54,60,61, and where is the strip being left, right, center, I have seen some that come from shop that the blade if upside down thus causing

Likely a 42" deck with 2 Blades.

OP says 60 inch deck and strip is on right side.

Check the spindle to the blade that's not cutting correctly. Over the years, I've had several that wouldn't spin full speed just before going bad and not turning the blade at all. When that would happen, it would leave a partially cut strip of grass.

whynot, could you post a photo of the mower, even one maybe to routing of the deck belt on the mower, gosh there is enough of us skilled mechanics to be able to solve the problem if we had more information, if it was to come into our shop would be easy to diagnose, probably just by looking, first thing would be to look at the deck routing, is the belt to long, leaving a strip sounds like it might be the belt not getting enough surface contact.

Could be the belt flipped over. It happens sometimes when you turn off the PTO at high throttle or get long grass or a stick caught in the belt.
