725D PTO clutch not engaging

PTO clutch will not engage when switch is engaged. Replaced both switch and clutch. You can hear clutch engage when you pull switch with engine off, but when you start mower clutch will not engage and when you pull pull PTO switch with engine off again you no longer can hear clutch engage until mower sits for extended period of time. Nothing like I've ever seen before!

put a volt meter on the wires when you engage the switch, Repeat with the engine running and wires off the clutch. Could be a bad or corroded connection or wires
