60" Deck Used?

Have a guy with a 60" Hustler mower, model 934778, 450 hours running time, with a deck , part #552269, that is so rusted out the entire top of the deck
has to be replaced. Including the cost of plate he is looking $1500+ from me to do that.

Any suggestions where he might locate a used deck?

I would have him research "mower salvage yards" and see if anything is near him. Ebay is another place he can keep an eye on. Maybe FB Marketplace. He should figure out what other mowers share a common deck. As an example, say AYP made it, then there might be multiple mowers that had that same deck but in other colors.

If in the SE USA Michael the Small Engine Mechanic cuts (CNC patterns) and welds new decks for about 1/2 the cost of new. Hustler doesn't share any patterns with other brands in my experience. He has a nice YT channel and is in rural NC somewheres. Last video I saw he was doing a new deck top for around $1K. His channel is very good. His Hustler dealership sells over 1,000 Hustler units a year.

Just looked and I see you're in La. so that would be a full day road trip (12 hours?)

Small Engine Distributors has some surplus Cub decks. Unpainted. Probably $400-450 including shipping, but you will have to order it because they won't sell to the public, and your customer will have to pre-pay because it is a bank-draft. (Good people too.)
