I have a craftsman self propel mower with a 6.5 briggs and stratton engine that runs great for about 5-10 minutes then sputters and dies. This mower has done this from the begining with the original owner. I have: changed the oil, changed the filter, checked the fuel line( to see if it was constricted) checked the fuel tank( to see if it it had something clogging it) and checked the fuel bowl which had a chalky kind of gunk in it. like i said before it runs fine for awhile even with a load on it. I am extremely frustrated with it and would greatly welcome advice!

Try running some Sea Foam are carb cleaner through the carb and see if it clears up. Otherwise you need to remove and disassemble the carburator to give it a good cleaning out of the gum, varnish and trash that is lodged within it. A wise old man once gave me this advice that I stand by today, It is always better to take the pill before you operate. Make sure you have a good fuel filter inline also.

Can the tank breath
Is it the same with a new spark plug
Have you taken the carb off and give it a good clean
Have tested the coil

First thing would be is to take off the carb, give it a good clean, and look for any sign's of damage to diaphragm(s)
