420 GARDEN Deere

I have lost compression in one cylinder taking it apart I have a bad rod and piston, Onan 20hp engine, what should I do to replace the rod and piston coprrectly,some one said to me the only way is replacing it with a short block, any help would be thought of highly,could I get away with a crank rod and piston? Onan parts are very exspensive to say the least. Thanks again

:smile: What is your definition of a bad rod and piston? Also if you give us the complete engine numbers we may be able to help you.
