300812BE rebuild

I am attempting to rebuild a snapper rear engine mower that belonged to my dad (300812BE). I got the engine off today and I know it is 8.5 horsepower, I know I need something more specific than that to order parts. Is there an indentifying motor number somewhere - I have looked but not yet found one.

You'll need the model number.

At 8.5HP, it's old - but you can still get parts for it! Look for a number simmilar to what I talk about in this thread:

Then go to

http://www.partstree.com/parts/?lc=snapper

- and plug in that model number. You'll be surprised what is still available! I use the above partstree myself, and I have had great luck with them. Good luck, and let us know how it turns out! (Post some before/after pics!)
