3 HP Tecumseh

i have a 3 HP 1991 Tecumseh 2 cycle engine that runs and starts perfectly, however it continues to run after I turn the ignition key off, about 30 seconds. during this time, it will miss and pop. At first, I thought that the ignition must be malfunctioning. I pulled the spark plug wire off while it was running, it did the same thing. I always use 91 octane ethanol free gas as I do with all of my small engines and have never had a problem. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Time for a decoke
Carbon has built up inside the cylinder .
It glows red hot during use and when the spark is off will be hot enough to ignite the incoming charge till it cools off .
