3 Engines, 2 Mowers, 1 Goal

Well I have these two snapper mowers. The black engine one runs very well, but doesn't have enough power for what I need it for. The white one runs, but smokes and leaks a lot. The loose engine came off of a Yard King mower that I pulled from the curb, and it started, but needs some work. So what I would like to do is put the loose engine on the snapper with the black engine, and then put the black engine on the one with the white engine. The black engine is a 12h802 model, and I cannot find the model number of the loose engine, nor can I remove the thing on the crankshaft so that I can measure it. I guess I am just looking for a little help, and confirmation that this would be feasible. If any numbers are needed to help, just ask. Thanks.

I do not understand why the need to take the "thing" -- the belt drive/blade adapter off the machine. from what I have seen,the adapter is for a high vacuum mulcher blade. I have an engine like that on a mulcher that also has a side discharge,and it will fling the grass a country mile with the discharge flipped up. If you do need to take the adapter off,an air impact wrench is helpful
The black engine mower -- the one with the square one piece gas tank and air cleaner has the engine number in the front visible once you remove the tank. The white engine is probably an old 2.5 to 3 Briggs.
To save time seeing if the motors wiull interchange,I just use butcher paper on the deck bottom and punch it around the mounting bolts--then compare one mounting pattern to another without removing the engine
Do not think that I have a lot of knowledge about these engines. It just so happens that I have three identical to yours,so we kind of lucked out.

The only problems I am having are that the ohv engine is not from a snapper, so that is why I am trying to remove the blade adapter. The other problem is that I don't know if the shaft sizes are the same length, because I know that I can get different adapters.

If you don't have to save the thing on the crankshaft you can split it with a cutting wheel.

I may have to resort to that. I'll have some time tomorrow, so I am going to take some measurements and look into this some more. I'll keep this updated, though, thanks.
