I have a Dixie chopper with a 27hp briggs and Stratton that caught fire an melted the bottom post on the solenoid out along with melting some wireing after replaceing the solenoid and wireing the battery wont charge while running
Two things you will need to check. One, do you have battery voltage measured at the voltage regulator. Two, do you have at least 28 v AC when you connect a volt meter between the two stator wires. If you can answer yes to both questions then replace the voltage regulator. No to the first question then you may need to run a new wire from the regulator to the battery side of the starter solenoid. If you answer no to the second question then the stator under the flywheel is damaged and will need to be replaced.
