25hp Intek Briggs & Stratton brand new but dies when under a load. Suggestion? Thx
Hello, I have a John Deere 345 garden tractor that had a Kawasaki FD590V. That motor blew up so I bought a brand new conversion kit with a Briggs & Stratton 25hp from the folks at Small Engine Warehouse. It matches up perfectly. The wires plugged up fine and everything went together WAY too easy. I emptied the gas tank and even vacuumed out the gas tank to make sure I had good clean fuel. Filled her up and she started right up. The problem is when I put her under a load, she runs for a few minutes and dies. I leave her sit for a few minutes, she fires back up. I can let her sit and idle all day long at both high and low speeds. It only does this when I try to drive the mower. It sounds like a vacume leak but I can find one. Suggestions would be very much appreciated. Thank you

Double check the fuel pump is conneced properly.
Check the operation of the govenor
You can download the Kawakasi service manual but I don't have a link for it that you can access.

I can send you a Service Manual for your B&S engine IF you like. Address below, put in proper format and remind me engine model number and what you want.

Hey folks, I appreciate the advice. I've checked the fuel, the governor how tight the drive belts are, I'm really at a loss. I decided to video the engine as it starts to die. I thought it would run continuously just idling but I found out it just takes a little longer to die idling. I have posted the link to if anyone would care to take a look and share their thoughts? I'm really stumped. As I said earlier, it's brand new right out of the box.
