I bought a 22 year old troy bilt bronco 22 hp vtwin b&s with a vari drive I think it's called, I'm waiting for a carb, in the meantime I checked out the drive......
i have Forward low high and reverse but the only way to stop is to throw it out of gear.....the clutch will not slack up on the belt enough to stop it
the peddle has only about a half in. play in full down, the belt is hot and never stops, not enough slack on the pulleys.....I can't see any adjustment on the clutch pulley, it can't move one way or the other very much......
if I had to guess I would say that the belt is too short, because there is so little travel in the peddle... let me know if that is a good guess.......if not I'm hear to learn........I did't study it too long, I had to have break from the heat...........thanks for any ideas
The usual cause of this is incorrect belts
They are not std B section as many "replacements " are and of course as they are a clutching belt must be wrapped .
I could not find the number that i thought the tag said, the tag was a little hard to read after all these years.........I figured that the model number was 14AY809H063.....
thanks for the tip.........I do plan on putting the correct belt in it, I just have to find one.....i'm checking jacks small engines now......
