2012 ZRT ELITE PTO PROBLEM

MY PTO WOULD NOT ENGAGE. I TESTED THE WIRE AT THE PLUG GOING INTO THE CLUTCH, READS 13.6V. THE CLUTCH SWITCH OPENS AND CLOSES, SENDING 13.6V TO CLUTCH. I REPLACED THE CLUTCH. IT STILL WOULD NOT ENGAGE. I PUT JUMP WIRES DIRECTLY TO CLUTCH FROM ANOTHER SOURCE AND IT ENGAGES. I UNPLUGGED AND TESTED EACH SAFETY WITH A JUMPER WIRE. THE MOWER TURNS ON BUT PTO WONT ENGAGE. THERE IS 5 RELAYS . ANY HELP?

Just because you are getting 13.6 volts with a meter doesn't mean that the wiring can carry any current I suspect that you have a bad or corroded wire some place that is preventing any amp flow. You ca try a test light, or I like to use an old light bulb fixture from a riding mower to create a load for testing.

THANKS FOR RESPONDING. I THINK I AM GNNA TEST THE WIRE RUNNING TO THE CLUTCH WHILE CONNECTED TO THE PTO. THEN TRY TO ENGAGE IT TO SEE IF THERE IS A FALL IN VOLTAGE.

I HAVE FOUND MY PRBLEM. ITS A GROUND ISSUE. THE PUT THE VOLT METER INTO TE BACK OF THE PTO PLUG IN. GOT 13V WHEN I PULL PTO SWITCH OUT. AS I PLUG THE WIRE INTO THE PTO CLUTCH THE VOLTS DROP TO ZERO. SO I THEN TOOK A JUMP WIRE FROM THE NEGATIVE SIDE OF THE BACK OF THE PLUG AND TURNED KEY ON, PULLED OUT THE PTO SWITCH AND TOUCHED THE WIRE TO THE NEGATIVE SIDE OF MY BATTERY AND THE PTO CLUTCH CLICKED (ENGAGED). SO NOW I GOTTA FIND THE THE GROUND WIRE FOR THE PTO.

It is a common practice to have power on the PTO all the time & switch the ground to turn the clutch on & off
Remember the switch can be any where in the circuit
People are used to household AC where the power side is always switch to prevent you getting a shock
But DC can be switched anywhere
