Repairs 2004 Troy Bilt super bronco 42" automatic

When i put my mower in foward it jerks and grinds/clicks. Works fine in reverse but not foward. The linkage is engaging the drive belt and the variable speed pully engages the trans belt but will not move. I have taken rearend/trans apart but did not see anything visuialy wrong with it. Anybody have any suggestions?
