I recently purchased a 2004 grasshopper 727k and the mower is awesome. The only thing I hane noticed so far is after mowing for a while, if you disengage the pto it has a real hard time starting back up(re engaging). If you let it try to do its thing it will smoke slightly.....not anything to major but I didnt let it do that for more than a sec. You can see the clutch try to engage so i know its not the switch. It seems to me that when it gets warm things expand with the heat because if you let it sit it engages just fine. Any body with any help would be much appreciated!!

I should add that I have not checked the air gap yet.....does anyone know what the specs are on these electric clutches? I have read that you can adjust them but I am not sure on the grasshoppers .

First check the voltage At the clutch... And the ground for the clutch... if it is low voltage or a bad ground after it heats up... You will not fully engage the clutch... :smile:KennyV

Your clutch is more than likely a Warner clutch. Not all these electric clutches can be adjusted. Is there a number tag that you can see on the clutch? 52-????
