can anyone give me a clue what might cause my engine to suddenly flood and smoke , it was fine when I used it about a month ago , but now it floods so bad I cant excelerate it , just dies ,thanks in advance for any help at all :confused2:

Check your oil level...
Your float might have failed to stop fuel flow & you may have fuel in the crank case. :smile:KennyV

When you say floods do you mean it hunts and surges and produces black smoke from the exhaust?

It would definitely do that if it were getting Too much fuel, just like having a plugged air cleaner Or the choke closed.... :smile:KennyV

thanks Kenny , I checked the oil level and found lots of fuel in the oil as you suggested , now im not sure what the fix for it is , the float needle or the shut off solenoid . any suggestions ?

If fuel is still running After the engine is shut off it's a good indication that the shut off solenoid is Not working...
But I would check the needle and seat along with the float... Your at the right area, so this should be an easy fix... Don't fail to change the oil, gasoline makes for a terrible lube... :smile:KennyV
