2 year old John Deere D105 Auto riding lawn mower putting out huge amount of white smoke

I have a 2 year old John Deere D 105 Auto riding lawn mower with a Briggs & Stratton 500cc 17.5 gross HP engine in it. It currently has 27.9 hours on it. It's had yearly oil changes and maintenance done with the kit purchased at the John Deere store. I was mowing for the third time this year after the second oil change, and on my second round of the yard it started profusely smoking white smoke. I turned the mower off and the smoking stopped. I lifted the hood and there were no flames, just white smoke. I started the mower back up to move it onto the driveway and it smoked again. This evening, I had someone at the local shop look at it, and he's stumped. The motor seems to be running fine. There was a small amount of white smoke coming from it, but not the huge plumes like earlier in the day. The oil level is as it should be ( not overfull), the compression was checked, and was as it should be, there were no obvious oil leaks, and it doesn't seem to be a valve problem. I"m wondering if anyone has come across something like this? If so, will you please provide some guidance/information. Could it possibly be a bad oil filter? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Where is the smoke coming from ?
Not uncommon to get drips from the rocker cover gasket accumulating on or in the muffler then smoking like a steam train when the muffler gets hot.

Also check and make sure you didn't overfill The oil, that will cause white smoke.

Check for water in the gas.
