19hp craftsman briggs and stratton, part broke through my crank case...

This came though the back of my 19hp craftsman briggs and stratton engine, there is a hole, I'll fix that, but what is it? It's half round, flat on one side, looks important but the engine still runs, other than blowing oil out all over the place.

Post model, type and code numbers for your engine so we have some idea of which engine you have.

I suspect that is the ACR pin from the flyweight. May have bigger issues than just than part coming through the block. Other internal damage most likely.

That's what im thinking. kind of hard to tell the size of the thing.
But, if he said the engine still runs, that means he can still start it.... which i ASSUME means it's cranking over easily.

The location and hopefully engine info, does still run, and we'll, other than oil everywhere

Does your engine have any trouble cranking over, like it's got a low battery or something?

Used to crank hard, burned up the starter, new starter works great though, was a free mower, and I'm sure it was run with little or no oil because the valve cover leaked bad onto the muffler after i filled the oil, Fixed that and noticed under the fuel tank was now more covered in oil, I figured it was blow back from the valve cover seal leaking, it wasn't. I'm wondering if I need to take the case apart and repair something, other than the hole, or just bring it back to where I got it?

I'm hoping that it was something left in the engine by mistake and was kicked around by the crank shaft, but I have not rebuild a briggs and stratton in a long time, don't know what's changed inside. I'm told this is a replacement engine for the those mower, so it's second engine.
