No one.... and I mean NO ONE at any of the local authorized dealers can tell me where the fuel pump mounts on this 10 hp. horizontal engine. There are TWO holes on the side of the recoil starter that match the lugs on the pump, but if installed in those holes, the three pump connections ( pulse, fuel tank, carb ) are pointed in the wrong direction to match any of the hoses... YES, I have the pump installed with the flat side towards the recoil housing. Any help or actual pictures of this setup is appreciated. The parts breakdown sheets do not show the exact schematic orientation of the 799056 pump.
Regards

Well unfortunately the diagrams do not show how or where the pump is mounted.
Could you post some pictures of what we're dealing with here.

What pump do you have?

The original pump are not available so it likely they sent you one of those hockey puck pumps which will not mount as the original pump did.

Most likely they sent you this pump

and you probably need the Kawasaki one

I do more engine swaps then anything else. Engine from a one mower to another. I find a lot of bazar problems .John Deere is metric and Craftsman is SAE ,one has electric clutch, bigger charging system. Briggs has a diode on each coil kill wire. Some have the fuel tank up high under the hood , so no fuel pump , fuel tank under the seat so this one has a fuel pump. So I will mention this from memory and imagination, There is a bracket that has two fixed nuts in it that bolts on with the shroud that will over come this problem and could be easily missed on assembly. At the same time I have seen so many of that pump just hanging with the hose .

IF anyone bother to look at the IPL they seen that the original fuel had all the hose coming one side. And since there is not one that I know of that this config you must relocate the new fuel pump.

Old style pump that was originally installed on this engine.

Yes, that is the pump I have...
Neither this pump nor the Kawasaki pump will work due to rotational issues.
Therefore, I just installed it as shown in the attached pictures... One of my pics is too large and this site will not let me upload it... Best Part is NO ZIP TIES ;) !!! I appreciate your input to my problem... Regards~

Exactly what I had to do ...... Hang it from the crankcase hose and make sure the carb and gas tank connections weren't in a bind !!!!

Correcto-Mundo !!! This flat style pump evidently was installed right behind the air cleaner assembly on the recoil starter housing.... Guess the CCP couldn't get their hands on one to "reverse-engineer" it, so they came up with the hermetically sealed plastic disc style to replace it !!! I appreciate your help, and have installed the new pump per the attached picture... Regards~
