1998 Yard Machine 13AM675G062 found and have questions

Hey guys, Very new to the forum. I have aquired a Yard Machine for free that does not work but is in pretty good condition. I'm not sure how long it has been outside. It does not run and does not turn over. It has oil still in it and the battery still has water.
I'm not real handy but am willing to try and get it running if it is worth it. I guess I have several questions.
1. Is it worth putting money into repairing it? What's the value of it just so I know whether to work on it or not.
2. The back wheels will not move. I have everything set correctly but wonder why the back wheels won't move.
3. The fuel line hose is a little rotted but I can't seem to get it off. (I have attached a picture). There is a white piece that the fuel line connects to(on the left side of the picture), that I can't seem to remove. What might I be doing wrong?

That's probably it for now. The answer to these questions will help me decide about moving forward with the repairs.

First thing the white thing the fuel line is on is called a nipple and it is on the carburetor.

Is it worth putting money into it. Well we will find out after you answer a few things.

Jack up the back of the mower and try turning one if the back tires. If it turns does the other one turn the same way or the other way.

The battery is most likely no good.
So check the oil make sure it is at or close to the full line.
Get a set if jumper cables and hook them to the car battery then to the mower battery.

Make sure the blade engage lever is to off
The brake/clutch pedal is pushed down. Gear selector is on the N

Now turn the key and report back with what happens.

You can cut the fuel line off by slicing it.

Thanks guys for the quick reply.
Tomorrow I will jack up the mower. I believe when I lifted it up before, one wheel turns in one direction while the other turns opposite direction. But don't quote me, I will go out and try it again.

I did use a set of jumper cables and connected it to the terminals on the mower. Nothing happened when I tried to turn it over.

Not sure about the blade engagement, I will try it again.
The fuel was at the full level and there was a decent amount of water in the battery( but I would assume it is dead as well).

I will post a picture of the mower. I have removed the top cover of the engine and one side cover, so that I can get to things easier. Not a great photo as it was at night with the mower in the garage.

In regards to the fuel line, how do I remove that if it is part of the carburetor? I removed the clamp that was holding the fuel line to the nipple but I couldn't remove it. Even using a pair of vise grips grabbing onto the fuel line.

You just want to cut the rubber line off of the nipple.

Have you tried to turn the engine by hand?

It looks like a good mower.

Ok, so I had chance tonight to put the back of the mower on a cinder block. The back wheels move very easily and freely but move in the opposite direction. When it is not on the block I cannot move the mower due to one of the wheels not turning(the same direction). I have it in N. The brake/clutch is engaged. And the blade is off. I'm sure I am wrong but it doesn't appear to me that the transmission is locked up due to the fact the back wheels move so easily. They will spin and spin(just in the opposite direction). Am I still missing something?
And is the red thing on the fuel line, a fuel filter? I was going to cut the fuel line off the nipple and replace it and assume I still need to keep the red piece(fuel filter I think) .

The rear end is fine.
The are made to turn different directions when off the ground. A rear wheel drive car does the same thing.

Did you work on the fuel line?

The red thing is a filter.
Put it in the trash and get a new one.

You can by fuel line by the foot at a lot cheaper price then buying a fuel line kit for a mower. Just bring a piece of the old one to a auto parts store.

Great! I will do the fuel line next. So shouldn't I be able to push the mower? Just had a real hard time getting it off the trailer or pushing it in the drive way to the garage.
