1997 mtd 38in. Deck help.

So I had a problem with my mower, the drive belt and the deck belt tangled up. So I took the deck apart but now I can't figure out where the deck lift plate spring goes. Now I've looked at the diagram and it shows that the spring attaches to the bolt on the lift plate but doesn't show where it goes from there.
