1989 Craftsman 42" - 12hp, 6 spd manual trans blown

1989 Craftsman 46" - 12hp, 6 spd Toole manual trans blown.
started with jerking, then stop+rough start, then nothing.
have a 1994 spicer identical trans with a smaller pulley
anybody know if gear ratios are standard?
no luck removing the pulley... yet, may have to cut off
cant spin broken trans to check ratio as its dead

does it matter ?
Do you use all 6 gears ?
As to if they will interchange look at the size of the wheels.
So you will end up only using 3,4 & 5 if the gearing is too low or 1, 2 & 3 if the gearing is too high
\Manual boxes are a doddle to repair as 99% of the time it is just the shift keys and on really long hours the actual gear you use most
The only big problem is the gears are razor sharp so watch your fingers
Most parts are available but you might need to do a bit of searching around Walmart don't carry them and they are not made in China so no source of reject parts to sell on ebay or amazon.

Most Craftsman mower with 6 speed manual around here had one three transaxles. Tecumseh Peerless, Dana, or Spicer. They all were pretty well geared thee same.

As for pulley it may have the keyway worn one side and it now locking the woodruff key. If turn the pulley slight backwards on the shaft then you might be able to pull it. Otherwise cutting it cutting maybe the only option.
