I have just replaced the head on my B&S 18 HP ohv Intek. Everything went smooth. Went to start it now the compression is so high the starter will not crank past top dead center. I can turn it past by hand (with lots of force), then try the starter again only to have it stop again. Bought a new 340 amp battery no help. Any ideas??

pull the spark plug and see if it is compression that is the issue or mechanical binding

Did you adjust the valve clearance?

The instructions only showed setting the rocker gap, the correct gasket and torc setting and order.
