My Craftsman started to blow lots of smoke all of a sudden. I changed the oil last week. It runs fine but still blows smoke when it runs. I removed the head and the top of the piston is black and so are the valves but the gasket is perfect. It doesn't smoke as bad as it did but still smokes.

you could have a collapsed oil ring, or the oil ring has a build up not allowing it to hug the cyl wall.

Smoke was gray... nnot quite sure what actucally happenned but I took everything apart including the carburator, changed the oil and it runs fine. Heard it might have been overfilled oil or too much fuel or it could've been too much Seafoam additive..... who knows, it's running perfect again....

Too much seafoam will smoke like a poorly running freight train.
