This engine has lost its compression. Is there a way to restore the compression without rebuilding the engine.?

It may be something that will require a repair but not a rebuild. It will be highly dependent upon how many hours the engine has on it.
For instance, if something has gone wrong with the valve train but the piston and cylinder are still in good condition, there is no need to tear the engine completely down. Remove the cylinder head, fix the valve and the problem is solved.

As said earlier it all depends on what wrong. The only thing I can think of to try is a can of something like STP oil treatment???
