Hi all I have inherited a old briggs and stratton 11 hp synchro balanced I/C engine which came off a old westwood tractor mower. the carburettor is siezed solid and the main jet has been stripped so a new carburettor is needed am I correct in thinking the model number is 253707 code 85071511 type 0168-01. So should I look for a 253707 model carburettor. It has good compression clean oil and no metal flake in the oil also it has a good spark am I to belive this engine does not have points but a ignition coil ?. Its filthy but seems a good solid engine. I am building a pull behind mower so what thoughts please and a happy new year all

Appears to use a 491026 Choke-a-matic- carburetor,
Evidently points were used in this engine model at some point since i see the points conversion kit in the parts list., but you can use https://www.partstree.com/parts/briggs-stratton-398811/ to do away with them. If it has points.

Every engine we assist in repairing is another new engine that is not being made.
Thus resources are not being wasted so we end up saving the planet one engine at a time which is more beneficial than walking down the streets chanting slogans carrying a placard .
