Striping kit size for Gravely ZT-X 52”

I took some measurements this morning. I have the belt 3" below the bottom of the deck. I usually cut my grass at the 4" setting which puts the bottom of the belt 3/4" above dry ground. The next time it rains I intend to change the belt and lower it about a 1/2" or go to what bullet Bob set his at.

Where the %&$#@ does this spring go?

I have an 18TwinII on my Case 446. I cleaned the carburetor 2wc and it was still surging. Then the fuel pump started leaking so I bought a new carburetor and now it runs great. The original had 3 bolts on the fuel pump and the new one has 4 so either will work. I'll look and see if I can spot...

Looking to buy a Ariens Apex or Gravely ZT HD

In 2019 I bought a ZTX 42" and I'm really happy with it. I looked at 3 other brands and the Gravely dealer, who was the owner of the dealership, was the only 1 that asked me how much lawn I cut, the terrain, and the obstacles I had to mow around before talking price. He wanted to sell me the...

    Snapper SPX riding mower?

I hear you with the JD dealers. I once apologized to one partsman for taking up his time. No other customers were in the store.

Stabilizer link - is it nessessary?

I would put it on. Manufacturers try to keep machines as inexpensive as possible and would not have put it on if the engineers didn't think it was necessary. It may have something to do with safety.

    Blade cutting edge.

IMHO it won't make any difference. Most cutting is done by about the first 1". I'm sure Ryobi, a respectable company, has tested blades to see which blades work best.

    New Gravely ztxl 42

Hang in there. Gravely makes a great mower. Since it's raining this is a good time to get to know your mower. Check the deck level, tire pressure and put a wrench on all the nuts and bolts. Wax it and give it a hug.

    Replacing your blades

In my metallurgy course we spent a couple weeks on thread lubricants, anti corrosion and thread locking products. I have a chart showing thread compounds and torque compensation % + or - of dry torque.

Striping kit size for Gravely ZT-X 52”

Way back in the '80s I had a customer that sold belts of all kinds and I picked up a bunch of the end pieces they were throwing out. The belt I used was probably the closest to the door. I have to lower it a bit so I'll use a stiffer belt next time. That was my first attempt. Trial and error...

    Sharpening blades

I have 2 sets of blades and rotate my blades every 2nd or 3rd mow. A file is usually enough to touch them up. I also use a router with a blade stone for when a friend bring me blades to sharpen. I cut the speed down to about 1/3.

Striping kit size for Gravely ZT-X 52”

I bought a ZTX 42 last year and put a piece of belting on the back of the deck. There are holes there. The day I put that belt on Gravely sent an email advertising basically the same as I put on. I don't think it will matter if the stripper you are looking at is wider than the distance between...

    Tires

That's a 2 1/2" difference. I'm not a professional mower with a little off road experience. I see new rims and probably spacers if you can't find rims with enough offset. That's a heavy machine there would be more stress on the drives especially the bearings.

    rear wheels spinning

I've had my ZTR for near a year. It took a while to learn the quirks of my machine. I have to stop twice on every turn. Once to back up to line up with the next pass then forward to mow it. I initially would spin out in reverse until I've learned to never have only one tire rotating at anytime...

    1000-1 chance

Not a betting man and that's why the odds were so far off. I did have a look at the pulley when I dislodged the rock. The examinations were done in the field. I'll lift the mower up higher in the shop and have a good look at the belt and pulley with a good light. Good suggestions all. Thanks.

    1000-1 chance

Good idea. After I put the belt back on I did mark a spot and spun the belt 3-4 rounds. Looked okay. I suspect the belt came off immediately. What if I revise odds to 100-1.

    Drive wheels, Looses traction

I inherited a YTH2042 and acquired a YTH18542 and I have traction problems with both. I have been able to adjust my mowing pattern to avoid spinouts which you may or may not be able to do. You may have to invest in more aggressive tires. As for cutting I sucked my decks as high as they can go...

    1000-1 chance

While doing some therapeutic mowing with my ZTX 42 today a 1/2" rock came out of somewhere and I would guess the rock, PTO pulley and belt all converged popping off the belt and the rock lodged itself into the pulley.

So I'm thinking about a mower lift

I doubled 4 ceiling joists in my shed and put a 8' 4×4 across them and mounted a winch to it. I lift what I'm working on and use jack stands. When I work on my ZTR I back up on ramps so the muffler deflector doesn't hit the ground then I lift it. I also built a deck from pallets and 4×4s. I can...

    Replacing your blades

Bertsmobile1. I got a metallurgy ticket back in the 70's and followed you through your explanations. Spot on. I torque all bolts and know the value of doing so. Keeping top of deck clean

I wash the hood and seat area on my tractors or seat area and floor plate on the ZTR. I do wipe the decks off. The rinse is with a pail. It is a good idea to keep it as dry as possible.

    Keeping top of deck clean

I use both. The leaf blower gets the bulk of the grass out then I blow the nooks and crannies with the blow gun. I usually wash the deck and tractor with soap and water then Wash n Wax then a gentle rinse and wipe down. A little excessive but I enjoy cleaning units.

    Solar Battery Maintainer

I live off grid and I use solar panels a lot. I buy the 40 or 50 watt Coleman Canadian Tire ones that are quite often on sale. I have some that are 20 years old. Never looked where they were made. Your idea of having one dedicated to your lawn mower is a good one.

Proud ZTX 42 owner here ?. I went looking for a ZTR mower last summer to replace my 13 year old Husqvarna rider. I have JD, Husqvarna, Kubota, Cub Cadet and Gravely dealers near me. Would you buy the same mower again?

If I remember right I read about someone with the same problem and was suggested to raise the seat and move the seat back ?? I never looked into it as I'm 5'7" and have my lap bars set as far ahead as they will go to be comfortable for me.

Would you buy the same mower again?

In 2006 dad bought a Husqvarna YTD2042 ? It never cut evenly. I don't think the stamped deck was strong enough. It also had a rocker type foot control which was terrible. Went looking for a ZTR last summer. JD, Husqvarna, Kubota and Gravely dealers in the area. JD was nice and the dealer...

    X-BLADES / CROSS-BLADE SET UP??

How did you make out with cross blading. Last fall I cross bladed my ZTR and it Sure a job on the leaves. I used the blades that came with the Gravely. Really hard on the clutch. This year I'm going to cross blade my 60" pull behind that has a manual engage.

    Stamped Versus Fabricated Decks

My dad bought a Husqvarna 42" LT in 2006 and took it back a couple times while still on warranty because of uneven cuts. Blades were lined up with the mower off and at least 1/2" or more difference down the center of the cut ? Got me a Gravely ZTX last year and just love it. My dealer also...

    HD ZT engaging blades

I wouldn't mind engaging the deck manually as we did in the good old days. Tried cross blading my ZTX 42 once. I felt it was to hard on the clutch. I only cross blade my 60" which has a manual engage. I'm pretty good at changing belts now.
