    717-0800 Variable Speed Pulley Install

I was thinking of having my belts replaced. I was told the main non tensioned belt can be seen flopping a bit. Both belts appear serviceable but it’s been 30 years. When we searched for the belts we did not see any matched sets from the same manufacturer. Did you use a matched belt set or get...

2014 TB30R REVS HIGH EVEN IN TURTLE MODE

Did you try bringing the rpm DOWN with your hand/fingers?

2014 TB30R REVS HIGH EVEN IN TURTLE MODE

I’m assuming this rpm/rev jump is NOT affected by movement of the throttle cable. Did you remove the throttle cable connection; and Is there any way you have put the throttle on reversed where fast is turtle and slow is rabbit?

2014 TB30R REVS HIGH EVEN IN TURTLE MODE

I had an engine in the early ‘90’s that ran full throttle and it was due to the failure of the internal plastic governed spool. But it ran wide open at all times, even on startup. The OP says the engine will run at idle [upon startup] for 30 seconds then all of a sudden goes full throttle...

    Ariens 46 in riding mower. 960460023-03, 93605600/A20H46

Aye Matey! Not sure how many Seadogs are on board, ifins their not all lubbers, but this might help you out if it is the correct diagram. You might need to dig deeper. I hope this helps. Thanks for serving...

2014 TB30R REVS HIGH EVEN IN TURTLE MODE

We need more information. You say it idles for 30 seconds; Is it idling smoothly or rough? Also, does the rpm speed creep up to high rev slowly, or at 30 seconds it just shoots up immediately to max rev? Is it a steady rev at max speed or is it an elevated rev above idle? Is the rev varying...

    717-0800 Variable Speed Pulley Install

Until you get a better answer, I would imagine a puller can be used, maybe a long rod to press/drive out the bearing. However, due to the diameter of the shaft/bearing you might have to destroy the bearing casing to get it out. As far as finding a bearing, get all your frame information and...

    717-0800 Variable Speed Pulley Install

I have a 1995/6 MTD 18.5/46 with the variable pulley system. Mine made noise and I removed the pulleys. There is a roller bearing that required a dab of grease and I lubed the shaft. I do not recall the pin holes, but these pulleys require absolute grip and if grease gets on the system I don’t...

NASTY surprise from Toro on filler plug

I guess it’s nice to know those units equipped with the 2200 can be upgraded with the transmission that has a filter. Can the transmission be filled from the very accessible fitting adjacent to the fill plug?

Starting issues with my MTD tractor

Lol…, because it didn’t start this nonsense until it was 50 or 60 years old?

Starting issues with my MTD tractor

Must be something in the design; planned obsolescence. My 1995 MTD Briggs I/C 18.5/46 wouldn’t start yesterday. I’ve got spark, checked the plugs, yep, they’re ORIGINAL Champions and still fine. Check them every season. It looks like my carburetor mounted fuel pump has given up the ghost. The...

    ZD331 Zero Turn

Have you tried lubricating all wear/contact points. I did a quick search and only found an adjustment procedure at https://www.manualslib.com/manual/1106804/Kubota-Zd-331.html?page=1#manual Free Service manual. You’ll need to search via Duck/duck as it is just a pdf download. There is a...

Toro 22" self propelled pinion gear on axle seized!!

Any progress on this? I know it’s been several months. Judging by your photos you’ve already made some progress moving the pinion off the shaft. I’d say you need to start working that pinion back and forth with your lube to get it off. Regarding the puller, use a small 6mm/+- socket as the...

Toro Max 77504 creeps forward in neutral

I would take the 0.10” off the lever to save the beautiful paint job, although that heavy paint coating just might be what’s keeping you from full movement.

    Toro Myride humming and pulling.

I have a 2025 Havoc MyRide 77507 with noisy transmissions. The transmissions are noisy even after checking fluids/bleeding air. My unit has the HydroGear ZD-DUBB-3D5A-2PPX, and my research found this unit to be a better (stronger??) consumer grade unit. Is the HydroGear ZD-DUBB-3D5A-2PPX...

NASTY surprise from Toro on filler plug

My unit has an Allen socket. Use a long Allen socket to tighten and break it loose. Use a long wobbly Allen extension to remove and install the plug, and of course a 24-36” socket extension.

Use blue threadlock. Red threadlock might require heating the bolt in order to loosen it.

    zt 2200 hydrostatic transmission

Also, could running the mower in wet boggy areas that splashes water up and under the mower cause water to enter the transmission?

    zt 2200 hydrostatic transmission

Do you leave the mower outside and uncovered? Do you wash the hot mower down with a water hose after using it? I ask this because a hot transmission with minimal moisture contamination SHOULD dissipate that moisture through a properly functioning vent. Maybe stormwater has entered the...

    zt 2200 hydrostatic transmission

I hear that some people remove the trans and flip it upside down. My AT in my Civic requires removal and replacement of 2.3(?) quarts of fluid every so often, so theoretically the fluid is completely changed every three (?) services. My civic has 270k miles with no transmission problems so far...

    Exmark Belt Stuck

Yeah, the previous advice about removing the pulley sounds best, and the belt is likely damaged, be prepared with a new replacement. I would also suggest a simple bracket on the lead side of the pulley to help prevent future occurrences.

    Big Box Zero Turns

I purchased some big box stuff in ‘96 & ‘02 and they are still going nicely today maintaining 4acres. Recently, I purchased an XT254D which does have a heavier transaxle (tough-torq k62 from a dealer, dealer typically has upgraded options). But I was looking at the Craftsman 54” zero turn with...

XT2 Enduro GX54D Blade Mod: Replacing Fast Attach for Star Stud.

My yard has lots of debris and my blades wear significantly. I change blades often. I see 9 blades with the star center for $90 and a 3 piece deck star spindle replacement kit...

    Cub Cadet with steering wheel

I just test drove one of these ZTS yesterday and I was very impressed. I had my heart set on a a riding tractor and the salesman showed me how much better the ZTS is on steep slopes these are than zero turns and riding tractors. As far as steering you turn the wheel like a car and it is...

    Fuel

I have stored ethanol fuel in the "new" oring sealed cans and I have had no issues to date. I use ethanol fuel in everything, without treatment because the gas gets used quickly. But, I do use non-lethal fuel for mixed fuel, chainsaws, and those small engines that do not get run often enough...
