How does CCs affect blade power and torque?

First thing, make sure your blades are sharp. Not like a knife edge, but close. And you want the tip as close to a 90 degree edge as you can get it. Not rounded or curved, that will just push the grass aside. The tip cuts 99% of the grass. Considering how fast the blade spins, the mower...

    Blade-balance oddity

I balance every new blade I buy. One in twenty might be close enough to use. I user a $200 balancer. I balance tip to tip, like you do. But sometimes, the center hole is off center, rarely, but enough to make the edge of the blade at the hole heavier on one side. I've never had it off...

Looking for advice re: purchasing a reliable lawn tractor

Have had 3 Ferris mowers with Kawasaki engines in the last 15 years. The last two were EFI. Have never had any issues or problems. I know Husqvarna puts Kawasaki engines on some of their mowers.

IS700Z with Kaw FS691V engine, sheared bolts that secure engine to frame?

I had this happen on a 15 year old 1500z. I have a newer Ferris, my wife uses this older one. I got on it one day and felt a lot of shimmy when I engaged the blades. I use two hoists to raise my mowers for blade change, etc., and when I got it up, I discovered three engine bolts missing, and...

Looking for advice re: purchasing a reliable lawn tractor

Don't know if you're considering a commercial mower, which will last you a lifetime, but I have three Ferris mowers with Kawasaki engines. Horses.

15mins on new ariens IKON 52 from lowes and the deck belt broke.

One other thing to check is the pulleys. On my Ferris (don't get me wrong, I love my 2200), I found that the pulley heights on the deck weren't the same. A couple of pulleys were higher than others, which wore the belts out quicker, and also caused the pulleys to split apart. Had to properly...

    SD Blades Level

Also in SC, and experience the Bahia grass a lot. First of all, like the others have said, blades must be sharp. But also, the tip must NOT be rounded. It must have as close to a 90 degree edge on the tip, or any rounding will just push the grass over. I found that to make cutting almost any...

10 Year Old Raptor Bogging Down

I recently had the same problem with my Ferris. Turns out the bearings in the spindles were all loose from wear. Once I replaced them, the mower never bogged down anymore.

Craftsman 54" mower grass buildup in deck

If the underside of the deck is not smooth, the grass will not circulate very well. Make sure the uplift on your blades are not worn down. If they are worn down, the blades should have been discarded long ago. Keep your blades sharp and balanced.

Gravely 260Z - Rpm's bog down when moving under load

Check your spindles for wear. If they have any play, the mower will bog down under a load. I just went thru that on my mower. Also, a VERY dirty air filter will produce the same effect.

    ignition switch

Did it much simpler. I had installed the JD relay kit on my Kawasaki engine (had starting problems), and one wire (purple one) connected to the purple wire going to the starter solenoid. I just installed a round key switch between those two purple wires, and accomplished my goal. Just to...

    ignition switch

I just wondered if anyone had found an exact replacement switch that used a real key. And also what others had done. I'm just going to put a switch in the solenoid line, just enough to keep someone from jumping on and trying to use it.

Best mower fuel filter and why

I use R12T filters on my mowers and backhoe. Easy to change, and also traps water. Filters are all over Amazon.

    ignition switch

I would like to find an ignition switch for my 2200 that uses a REAL key, not a modified screwdriver. Want to keep unauthorized people from using my mower. Looked around, no can find. My next thought was to add a regular switch that does use a normal key in line from the ignition switch to...

Ferris is3000 can't adjust the steering arms

There aren't any adjustments in the hydraulic system, other than mechanical stops for the levers. At least as far as I know. I have had to deal with hydraulic issues before, and my first question is, has the hydraulic fluid and filters been changed as required ? I'm assuming that the fluid...

I found the model, must be an older one. But, what is it you can't adjust ?

    jack kit for Ferris

I installed two 800# hoists from HF in my workshop and lift the mower up about 6' to change blades, and do whatever. Been doing it for 7-8 years.

    IS2100Z deck idler pulleys

I ran into that issue with a pulley on my 2200 52". I ended up grinding the rivets off, bought new bearings at the hardware store for $5, and used short screws with lock nuts to reassemble.

    What bagging system to use

Wow. I purchased the Ferris system with the impeller, and it works fine. Sucks up everything. However, I initially got the Accelerator aluminum cage and use it more often. I pull a small utility trailer behind the mower, and can fill the trailer twice before I have to dump the grass/leaves.

    Dang, never thought about that.

IS700Z with Kaw FS691V engine, sheared bolts that secure engine to frame?

I had a similar issue with my 1500. Wondered why the deck moved when engaging the PTO. I use two electric hoists in my workshop to raise the whole mower, mostly for changing blades (every day), and found 3 bolts missing, and one about to fall out. The only thing keeping the engine in place...

Has anyone installed a winch and/or a toolbox on their Zero turn?

I had the Michelin Tweel tires put on my 2200. Love them, don't have to worry about flats anymore. Also find they are a bit more aggressive than factory tires, probably due to larger footprint.

Has anyone installed a winch and/or a toolbox on their Zero turn?

Yes. I installed a winch on my 2200, and it has saved me numerous times.
