The engine on my JD 240 is a Kawasaki FC420v

I would like to know if the shaft diameter and length are the same so there won't be any issues lining up the belt to the PTO and mower deck.

Can a Kawasaki FC 540V engine from a JD 260/5 lawn tractor be interchanged with a JD 240/5 tractor? Will the PTO unit line up with the mower deck and the engine bolts fit? I might want to swap out engines on my 240 with a more powerful engine. Thank you.

The above problem explains it all. I just had the carburetor serviced at my local JD dealership for not starting. Dealer found float not working properly. They cleaned the jets and needle valves. Fuel pump works fine, Any ideas what would cause engine to stall at full throttle?

Problem solved. Took the tractor to my local JD Dealer. Ended up being a stuck needle valve in the carburetor. Runs like new. Thanks everyone.
