    Substitue for Kohler spark plug

There was an article i read on the internet (must be true) that most of the plugs on amazon are counterfeit. I get my plugs from stens and another reputable online source. Took a plug out of a honda once that i was pretty sure was a counterfeit NGK.

I found the guy a used flywheel on fleabay for $100. Cheaper than wasting time with a maybe fix.

    Oops!

Yeah cust asked if i could fix the flywheel. Sorry. Used a hacksaw and a cold chisel to cut the stuff off then found it got up in the bottom bearing. So they get to buy a new spindle.

    Is3100z Hydraulic pump replacement

The is3100z came in 2 varieties. The older ones, like mine, have separate self contained hydros. The newer ones have a single pump and separate wheel motors. Sounds like the OP has an older one with separate hydros.

    Ryobi Z42Li joystick too stiff

Yeah fixing them isn't the issue. Give me a schematic and a parts list and i can fix most things. Did that for 40 years. Nothing special about the technology. Right now my favorite engine to work on is Chondas. I can get most any part now cheap. Just put a new complete chonda cylinder head on a...

"Kinda sounds like a battery power unit that I need to start researching before they start showing in my shop." I solved that problem in my shop. I don't take in any electric mowers. BOOM!

I assumed the rod seized but there was absolutely no aluminum on the crank. Yeah i think the piston got taken out because of the rod. Interesting, the parts list shows 2 different pistons depending on date code. Either one works. Only difference is one uses 2 wrist pin clips and the other only 1.

    BOOM!

No. Didn't seem to over rev. Already tossed the rod. There was probably 30 small pieces of rod material. Engine was a 31R777. Lucky it didn't break the block. Did shear the key. I used a 240 grit ball hone to break the glaze and had to file and smooth a ding in the crank journal. Could have been...

    Bad boy revolt not charging

Regularors need the battery to excite them to start charging. 8v should be enough. It does sound like a bad regulator
  20. Hammermechanicman

    Bad boy revolt not charging

With a charged battery you should be getting approx 12v at the output tab on the regulator even with it not putting out charging voltage. How are you measuring the 8v? Battery charged?
  21. Hammermechanicman

    Bad boy revolt not charging

With engine running and battery connected what is the voltage from ground to output tab on regulator? Is it the same as ground to battery positive?
  22. Hammermechanicman

    Bad boy revolt not charging

You may have fried the stator. You should have approx 28 volts AC @ 3000rpm across the two stator wires going to the regulator. Unplug and check the stator output.

    No Oil on top end.

From the parts list it appears the engine has plain flat tappets and not hydraulic. It will not be pumping oil up through the lifters and pushrods like a car engine. The engine lubricatethe valve train by splash and mist. If the engine is running fine and not seizing the rods on the crank...

    Old 5HP Rototiller fouling plugs.

If we are talking about a 5hp 13xxxx series briggs engine the "easy spin" bump is on the intake and not the exhaust. If the engine is not burning oil the most common cause of carbon deposits on the plug is not running rich but rather not running the engine hard enough to get the spark plug into...

    Problems with compression test.

Buddy of mine raced flat track back in the day with a big 2 stroke single. Once up to speed he held the throttle wide open all the time and used the compression release to modulate power in an out of the turns. Keeps the engine revs in the powerband all the time. Brakes? What are brakes? I...

    Old 5HP Rototiller fouling plugs.

It's not a stuck valve. If they stick it is always open. Pull side cover which is hopefully not seized on the crank. Pull the cam out and see if you can turn the crank.

    Another PTO Clutch Question

If the belt pulley is not turning (power off) and the clutch makes a noise it is probably the bearing in the clutch. With the clutch powered on the bearing doesn't spin so no noise. I would remove the clutch and check the bearing.

    Another PTO Clutch Question

Remove the deck belt Engage and disengage the clutch Does it still make the noise when disengaged? Does the belt pulley stop spinning when the clutch is disengaged? If the belt pulley keeps turning when the clutch is disengaged and make the scraping noise the bearing in the clutch is probably bad.

    FS400 Ring gap

Most handheld 2 strokes have locating pins in the in the grooves to keep the rings from turning to where a ring end is in a port (bad). And the ends are tapered to fit the pins. I have never had to file rings. OEM or AM I just put new rings on the piston and install. Never had a problem. Not...

    Problems with compression test.

Never seen a mechanical ACR on a multi cylinder 4 stroke bike. Honda did have one on the XL500S. It was a 500cc 4 stroke thumper that pretty much killed off the 2 strokes used in flat track racing. Back in the heyday of big single racing 2 strokes it was common to have a compression release...
