    Engaging blades kills engine

Can you get a new wiring harness for the mower? It may not be much fun to install but that would restore it to working condition. If that's not in the cards, a wiring diagram, some wire and connectors and sweat will get you back up and running but I wouldn't know how to tell you how to do that...

Is there a Kawasaki Engine Shortage in the states ?

Nearest new car dealership to me, Ford, looks like a cheesy used car lot. Very few cars at all and if there's a new car or truck on the lot, I overlooked it.

Is there a Kawasaki Engine Shortage in the states ?

It doesn't seem to matter what you want, it isn't in stock and no idea when they'll get more. I needed a cord for a Milwaukee drill, probably one of the most common they make. Out of stock everywhere on the internet with no idea of when they might be in stock again. Finally found one in a...

Is it possible to remove a flywheel doing the hammer and pry bar technique but without the pry bar and with a wrench instead.

Applying some upward pressure to the flywheel on a vertical shaft engine is important. Doing so lifts the crankshaft up, giving the crankshaft a little bit of room for the crank to move when tapped by the hammer. Otherwise the crank just rests on the thrust bearing surface without any room to...

They'll all react to your maintenance in the same way. Don't be surprised if you cut the rings out of your next engine if you continue to fiddle with the air filter like you've been doing. Every time you remove and replace an air filter you risk damaging the pleats or the seals. Every time...

    B&S Pushrods

Out of adjustment valves do cause problems but bending pushrods is seldom (if ever) one of them. Pushrods get bent when the cam tries to open the valve farther than the valve itself can travel. This is usually caused by overheating which makes it easier for the press-fit valve guide to move...

Engine 125K05-0186-E1 Hunting & Surging: What am I missing?

Only the last two things on your bullet list are items which cause surging. That includes the 'next' steps you intend to take. Surging is a fuel/air mixture or governor issue. If the engine surges under high idle conditions (full rpm with no load), the problem is a lean mixture, usually...

    "Customer states"

I bought a rigid frame zero turn from a guy who gave up on it. He had hundreds of pounds of weights on it and never reached the conclusion that, if you want to turn right, pulling back on the right side does the same thing as pushing forward on the left. One of the drive tires will always be...

Another thing you can do is get one of those siphon-type oil changers. The only quirk about them is you need to learn how much of the oil can be taken out with them. It varies from engine to engine. To find out, start with the oil level at the full mark, then use the siphon tool to take out...

    ZT52HD DECK VIBRATION FIX

Adding a good air filter to the entire engine lineup would add cost. Unless ALL manufacturers did it, know-nothing-except-price customers would flock to the ones who can sell for less by putting a cheap filter system on their engines. P.S. We're in the wrong thread. This one is about the...

    Did I total my mower?

It sounds like it really took a hit. You may need to have a mechanic look it over to see if any internal parts such as crankshaft or connecting rod got damaged.
  28. cpurvis

    Did I total my mower?

This is a Woodruff "key". It's what "times" the flywheel to the crankshaft. It's made of relatively soft steel and does not like for the engine to stop suddenly. The crankshaft has magnets built in to its outer rim. When the engine rotates, the magnets pass by a coil. This generates...

Pressure Washer with Honda Engine Surges

Pressure washers must have a way of bleeding off pressure when the engine is running but the wand isn't spraying. It will depend upon the pressure difference between 'closed' and 'open' on the bypass valve how much the engine surges. It's not hurting anything; mine has been that way since new.
  30. cpurvis

    Did I total my mower?

That sounds to me like your neighbor hit something that stopped the engine suddenly. It may have sheared or partially sheared the Woodruff key which locates the flywheel on the crankshaft, thus establishing the timing of the ignition.

    break in hints?

A filter not only continues to do its job, it does a better job of filtering as it catches debris. With the exception of a clogged, bypassing oil filter, a new filter is actually doing the poorest job of filtering; the very best job of filtering it can do will be at the end of its life. You...
