If you can turn it over easily with plugs out and a wrench, then try starter. It will not start but tel you you did the valves backwards. Could be valve rods are bent or something. Yes, try with plugs out so no compression.

Thanks for the update, but AGAIN I NEVER LEAVE OLD GAS IN TANK OR CARB. I DRAIN AND RUN DRY. NEVER HAD A STALE GAS ISSUE DOING IT THIS WAY. (ALSO MY CHAINSAWS. I RUN THEM, DRAIN GAS, RUN DRY ALWAYS), AND THEY ARE GOOD FOR 5-8 YEARS UNTIL NEED NEW REBUIld. My 2 cents again.

I agree float valve, and NOT his fault. For winter use, I like the antifreeze if you want, I just run it dry, gas tank EMPTYYYYYY, NOT stabilized. I DO NOT believe in sterilizer over winter except for emergency generator. run carb dry, tank dry, pump dry. Have a merry christmas.

JD screwed all new owners. They sucker you into a proprietary oil filter which costs 50-100 instead of a standard 8$ filter. See utube video on converting to generic filter.

Cannot help, but TAKE PICTURES when disassembling. I take 3 times more than shoul, but have all angles when I need them. Pictures are free.

Agree manual wins, do what they say. Nothing wrong with 30 weight. More important is regular changes, and change at end of season when last run and drain gas until coughs out of gas. Anything else is evil. fresh gas in spring, not last years gas. filter also. do not trust former owner.

I have used PB BLASTER fo 5 to 10 days in a row. Every day hit with hammer, but does not work. BLAST again because maybe crack in rust allows BLASTER to penetrate more. Did a snowblower gear this way. In my case maybe heat would have worked faster, but one day, gear just moved.
