Briggs and Stratton Generator Help Needed

I don't know what Rec fuel is either. I have poured regular oil down in the piston hole and turn it by hand before winter storage just to keep the rings lubed. Who cares if it smokes on start up? Fuel Stabilizer or Drain it? I've done both over the years.

Kohler CV675s after head gasket replacement.

Welcome to the LMF! Those darned Chipmunks are also hard on wires, fuel lines, anything they can chew up and shred. Once cost my friend who had a Cadillac about $800 in repairs!

Mower engine acts like it often does not get gas

Those engines with a float bowl will condense water over time no matter the fuel type, stored inside or outside garage or shed or under a tarp. It's so very common I always check that first. Don't see those old Chrysler 225's anymore. I had one in my new 72 Dodge 2 Dr. Dart. Navy blue, 3 on...

Mower engine acts like it often does not get gas

First thing I usually check is the float bowl. More often than not it will condense water into the bowl and will cause the engine to sputter and die. Drain the float bowl and could be water or something obstructing the pick up of fuel. Whatever it is sounds like fuel starvation. And Welcome...

    Missing pushrods on FR730V

Hmmm....that is an unusual dilemma. I've seen pushrods fall out of the rocker arm and even down in the cam and lifter area before, but not swallow both push rods! You would think there would be a banging like a mule kicking in a tin stall having done that. Trying to think of a way to fish...

Ryobi bp42 backpack leaf blower won’t start, help please

Try taking the plate off the top of the carburetor where the idle adjustment is located. Check the fuel filter screen and if dirty spray it out but not too hard to knock the screen out as it just sits pressed in there. Take out the diaphragm and clean it and spray out the holes you find as...

FS 56-RC not running very good

I had a friend drop off a Craftsman weed eater about a week ago. Said he couldn't get it started. I looked at the carb and pulled the plate w/ the single screw near the idle adjuster. Screen full of some kind of brown crystalized gunk. I sprayed it out with carb cleaner and cleaned the...

42" lawn tractor 20hp Intek Briggs & Stratton - need some advice

If the carburetor needle and seat are leaking fuel, clamp off the hose going from the tank to the carb rather than let it hydro lock. I've had success with that type problem by putting a fuel shutoff valve on it. When finished mowing just turn the valve off and run it out of fuel. Also check...

What I believe in looking for an answer

I used to love the Search Within the Results on Google, and they eliminated it. I've used the quotes and it helps a lot really, but still it's a wild goose chase unless I have a specific www address etc. I have better luck on the forums but still a lot of being a Farm Chicken, hunting, pecking...

    Koehler 19hp SV600 Clunking

UPDATE: I got a parts engine from the junkyard and was about to start the dis-assembling of the 19 HP Kohler Courage in the mower when I began cleaning the bottom of the case and found some impact cracks. I poured some diesel into the case and it started pouring diesel fuel onto the crank...

New Kohler 5400 with odd noise

Definitely sounds like metal rattling on metal. I can hear it better on the low idle speed rather than at mid to high range. Don't do the repairs yourself or even a mechanic who can do it as it will void your warranty and then you're on your own. Make a paper trail that you can hold up if...

    Koehler 19hp SV600 Clunking

Today I pulled the top cover off that Cub Cadet 09 riding mower and found why it was locking up on hand rotation. The 2 hanger brackets that hold the counterweight had both disintegrated! I am going to the lawnmower local shop that has a junk yard around back and buy some counterweight hangers...

    Koehler 19hp SV600 Clunking

Hi. I dragged in a 2009 Cub Cadet Hydro Drive w/ a single cylinder Kohler Courage. The guy who gave it to me said it acted like the motor made a banging sound, belched out some exhaust gas and oil then quit. I tried to turn the engine to no avail, so I figure the flywheel either hit a bolt or...

    Koehler 19hp SV600 Clunking

Good Luck on those Kohler Courage motors. I hate em' personally. Like IL ENGINE said, those top bolts work loose and hit the flywheel. Been there done that deal. When you pull the flywheel and tighten them down use some thread lock. When they get loose like that the engine will usually, due...

Briggs and stratton model 33R877003-G1 will only run with air intake almost all the way covered

Just having available fuel supply from the tank to the carb doesn't mean the carb is actually working efficiently. I would disassemble the carb and boil it out with some solution and try again. Sounds like "fuel starvation" even tho fuel is there. Just not able to use it. Welcome to the LMF!

Welcome to the LMF! I saw an 8N Ford gas tractor have the problem berts mentioned. Someone had left a rag in the tank. Start it up fine, run a few minutes and it would sputter and die. Let it sit for a few minutes and it would start again. Who the devil left a RAG in there? I've seen bugs...

Craftsman tractor 917.289272 Briggs and Stratton engine revs a uncrontrollable top speed.

You guys ever seen what happens when an engine eats a throttle screw? If it goes down on top of the piston all sorts of bad things can happen. Piston gets beaten and scarred up sometimes the cylinder wall gets scored too. Rings get pinched in the groove and ruins the piston. I've seen that...
