Law boy using lots of oil

This is bad advice. Don't pay any attention to this guy. CHANGE the oil, making sure you refill with the correct quantity, then mow some more with it.

Drain the oil back to the correct level and mow some more with it. What do you have to lose?

Law boy using lots of oil

Only two ways for oil to get out of the engine--leaks or the exhaust. I don't see how it could use that much oil and not smoke unless it's leaking. The spark plug should tell you if the oil is going out the exhaust.

2 Stroke Oil recommendation for 10525 6.5 hp Gold Series

I would think 2 stroke oil would have the fewest demands placed on it of any oil. It's job is to lube the crank bearing and cylinder walls for one revolution. Then it's replaced by new oil.

Would you buy the same mower again?

Between me and my Dad, we've owned three Cub Cadets over the years. I still have #3, but I wouldn't buy a new one. I don't think they're as good as they used to be.

Better check the oil level, too. If it sat for an hour without any needle valve in it, that gas had to go somewhere.

    No hot restart

Go get some more bourbon. It may start when you get back. I think hot start issues are mostly spark related. I've had mowers that, once started, you'd better finish the job because they would not start again until they cooled off. I never bothered to trace the problem because they would...

Help for a first time blade replacer?

I haven't seen any blade bolts that weren't right hand threads, meaning you tighten them by turning clockwise as you face the bolt. To loosen, turn them counter clockwise.

722D2 bogging down in grass it once easily cut

Don't mess with the air filter until it needs to be replaced. Believe it or not, the dirtier they get, pleated paper filters do a better job of filtering. If you don't have a restriction indicator (aka 'Filter Minder') installed, follow the manufacturer's recommendation for replacement. But...

    Premium Gas

Another little known fuel fact: Higher octane fuel has a lower specific gravity than lower octane fuels. Who cares? Probably nobody but that means you're paying more to get fewer BTU's per gallon. Simply put, if your engine doesn't require it, you'll burn more of that expensive fuel to do...
  17. cpurvis

    Premium Gas

Correct, higher octane will not improve performance unless the compression ratio of the engine is high enough to require it. But higher octane fuels generally have different additives, such as the quantity of detergent in the higher priced fuels.

Can you see in the tank to tell if there is any contamination in there? After reading about the problems that person had with the gas powered Kubota Zero Turn, I would make sure the tank doesn't have any debris in it. All the symptoms point to fuel starvation. I don't know how much trouble...

If it starts on its own, the injection system does not need bleeding. What is happening is the fuel flow to the injection pump is slightly less that what the engine needs to run. You can test this with a small container of diesel to replace the tank. A gallon or two will be plenty. Run the...

    Repair Kubota

I DON'T think it's getting air in the system. If it was, you'd have to go through the whole bleeding process every time it dies. Let me get this straight--When it dies, you don't have to do anything other than let it sit for awhile before you can start it again? If that's the case, something...

    Repair Kubota

The reason I ask is, if the engine runs--then dies--and can be restarted, something is restricting the flow of fuel prior to it getting to the injection pump. It would not restart if it had gotten air in the system. If it starts, the injection system is primed. Since replacing the fuel pump...

Best Oil To Use For Kawasaki

    There must be a way!!!!

I've never worked on an OHV Kohler, so keep that in mind. There'll be more than one way to do this. Here's one: Take the spark plug out. Turn the crankshaft to lower the piston in the cylinder. Make sure it's the BDC in which the intake valve has just closed. Insert some small rope through...

Best Oil To Use For Kawasaki

One of the jobs of engine oil is to clean the engine by holding the contaminants in suspension so that they will be taken out of the engine when the oil is drained. 'Black' motor oil is not a bad thing. It's evidence that that the oil is doing its job of holding contaminants in suspension.

If it has half the power that it used to have, that means it's getting half the fuel it used to get. Fuel flow restriction--or air--in the system will cause this. I would start it and just let it run at about 1500 rpm and see if it shuts off again.

Looking for discontinued part for old Echo chainsaw

I would, too, but not all two cycle engines have them. I have an old Toro/Suzuki push mower and the shop manual calls for Threebond #1104 or Loctite #515. The OP's engine had a gasket though, and to not use a gasket would decrease crankshaft endplay, One good thing about making gaskets is...

Is the fuel tank below the fuel filter? If it is, you'll have to have the fuel pump running to get fuel to come out of that bleed screw on the fuel filter. If you can't get fuel to come out of that bleed screw, there is something wrong between that point and the tank. edit: I returned the...
