    alternator id

Thanks, Rivets. I also have the full color diagram page from Briggs, but I couldn't find an alternator pic showing the single yellow wire with white connector going to the regulator/rectifier mounted on the engine. The disconnected red wire went the the harness and connected through the ignition...

    Tire Pressure ?

My ztr manual says 15 psi rear, 20 psi front. Sidewall numbers are what the tire will withstand without exploding, not what works best for the mower the tire is on. Compare your door sticker on your vehicle to your tire sidewall. They will not be the same.

    7000 Series Kohler Rich

Speaking only for me, my anti-afterfire solenoid failed and shut down my mower at the farthest end of my yard. Mine was that 1%. As a rule, I turn off my gasline shutoff before turning the mower off, so no afterfire bang.

Most desirable blade for Cub Cadet 54"

After buying several sets of blades that took very little to bend them, I ran across these Oregon blades and have been quite pleased with them. Holding an edge and not bending at the slightest twig are far superior to even the OEM blades from the dealer. If you can find the correct length and...

    Hours on a mower

Remember, I said "Diesel" T6, not T6 Multi engine. Two different oil formulations. T6 Diesel should not be used in any modern gasoline automobile/truck engines. As others have stated, STAY with your engine makers, B&S, Kawasaki, etc, recommended mower oil for peace of mind and warranty protection.
  8. S

    Hours on a mower

Nope, not 'mower oil'. Full synthetic diesel engine oil. It's NOT compatible with catalytic converters, due to additives. Shell Rotella. T6 Recommended for vintage muscle cars.

    Hours on a mower

Not to drag you back into the oil discussion, bertsmobile1, but I use the T6 in my OHC Ford non-cat converter 2.5 engine that holds 5 quarts. The oil comes in gallon containers, so I have some on hand after an oil change. It's no doubt overkill in the mowers , but I know Ford had a lot of issues...

SOLVED: NOT INTERESTED IN WARRANTY ADVISE-27hp 49T877 V-twin rod bearing oil

IMHO, another point to consider is that the engine this crank came out of is back in service with a replacement crank. Since there is no engine to put this crank into, what's the point of wasting any time or effort on it.

    Junk mower? Really?

This just makes good economic sense. Maintaining and repairing useable and repairable objects, be they mowers or vehicles, keeps them out of the waste stream and saves the resources and energy used to produce a usually less durable replacement. Personally, I get a bit of satisfaction keeping my...

    Junk mower? Really?

The more I have looked over the new mowers, the less I want to part with my USA made Husqvarna. The fact is that most of the mower parts are from outside parts suppliers and readily available. It has a Briggs engine, HydroGear drive transmissions, etc. Husqvarna made the main chassis that is 14...

    It takes two

This same family has purchased that same girl one of those "Hoverboards" that are notorious bone breakers. She has been riding it in the streets, no helmet, no protective pads, nothing. This is a heavily travelled public street. Children cost a LOT. Why carelessly endanger them, all for "fun"?

    Mower safety

Some people like to tempt fate I suppose, but risking the safety of your child is NOT being a good parent. A ZTR mower isn't meant to be a take your kid along for the ride machine.

    Junk mower? Really?

My wife is still working full time, graphic artist book illustrator. I'm retired. As such, I do most of the household stuff now. I cook, clean, make the coffee, do the grocery shopping, etc. I seldom try to be :right", having her happy is MUCH more important. (married 26 yrs)

L130 - Sudden no crank, no headlights

Always check the cables first before throwing parts at an "everything is dead" issue. OEM battery cables are not the best quality. Checking connections and cables will almost always be the culprit. Not always, but the place to start. I solder the eyelet terminals on my mower cables, I then apply...

My 2 cents here. I have purchased several electrical items, starters, alternators, etc from eb electrical and have been satisfied with all of them
  31. S

L130 - Sudden no crank, no headlights

This has been my experience in the past also. The sudden demand on the corroded cables opens the connection and everything is dead. Clean or replace the cables before you do anything else.

    Briggs plastic gas tank question

Is this the actual picture of your tank or a stock photo? I can't tell anything about the area. Any mods or adjustments needed for install of cannister air filter?

12? that is getting close to that afore mentioned poster description! LOL! p.s. Can't go wrong putting things back as intended. I have a Pete 379 chrome cowl air cleaner out in the garage that might look so cool on my ZTR, and I'd NEVER have to change filters, but why bother.

Any mods or adjustments needed for install of cannister air filter?

I have read through this whole thread and just want to add that worrying about the EPA isn't a thing to get too concerned about. Why do I say this? Use the flat one. However, If it were me, I'd flip the stepped washer over and use it as a flat washer. That's a pretty special washer and you may need it, now or in the future. That way. you'll still have it and know where it is. :-D p.s. that is if the recess is too shallow for the 'step' to...

    Cannot find oil drain plug

I have one of those ,also. I use it on my outboard motor. But for the mower's. the grease gun looking one is simpler and quicker. Just suck it up and the squirt it into the empty container.

    Cannot find oil drain plug

I use this gun for my oil changes. Good for all sorts of stuff. After an oil change in my other vehicles, just suck up the oil and squirt it back in the empty jug. Way better and less chance of making a big mess trying to pour out of the awkward drain pan. $15.00 at Rural King...

HD52, 991083 loud deck when engaged!

Since the axle is just a hard part, single piece of steel relatively unstressed, a visual inspection is enough to justify using a salvage part. That and of course, I used a brand new bearing and seal. For something like a water pump, caliper ,etc no way. New is the only way to go.
  44. S

HD52, 991083 loud deck when engaged!

Good to know. I have saved my old scored axle if this happens again. I replaced the bad bearing with the afore mentioned Timken bearing. However, a good axle from my local u-pull was only $12.00 When I was doing the repair and checking around, even a premium SKF brand bearing was China-made!
  45. S

HD52, 991083 loud deck when engaged!

Even using a top brand bearing(Timken) will not assure one of getting a USA-made bearing. I had to replace a rear axle shaft because of bearing failure. On newer Fords with 8.8 rear axles, when the bearing goes, it frequently scores the axle,as the bearing rides on the axle shaft,no inner race...

    Zero turn mower seat

For some reason riding mower seats are ridiculously expensive. Vinyl seats last a very short time. It seems they dry out and crack in just a year or so. Fabric seats are much more durable, but still expensive. Vinyl seat $150 or so, Fabric seat $300 and up. A friend put a salvage yard bucket...

I just found this thread,so forgive this late reply. It may help some mower people on the fence,as it were.
