my 5 HP CRAFTSMAN edger engine has a crack in the muffler and is crazily loud, this has been a problem ever since I got the engine 1 year ago. Is there a way to seal the crack without buying a new muffler? would super glue work or gasket sealer? engine serial code: 100202 0015-01 6811127...

ok, so after 30 minutes of long, hard searching the engine, I finally found the dust and dirt-caked engine serial code and model number for the edger! engine serial code: 100202 0015-01 6811127 craftsman edger model number: 536-83610

I had a craftsman and it started like that so you might have to rebuild the engine and or get a new head gasket. white also means burning oil

do you know how many hours on it? did you buy it new yourself?

believe me I've had my share of a bad gasket, and 2 in five people have get a broken head bolt, diy projects are not the way to fix some things like that. have the pros do it.

Add coolant to the right amount, and drain and add new oil, does your John Deere have a oil filter? if so replace that as well. Use 10W-30, and oil capacity is 1.9 quarts. And that should fix your problem, if not it is a blown head gasket. And at that point just take it in to a repair shop to...
