I owned two Toro mowers with the 708 cc Loncin engine. Both of them performed well. However, neither mowers could handle my property. I had to move up to a commercial machine.

Ariens mower cylinder full of gas and oil overfilled

Returned with no oil? It may be trashed. Check it over good before spending another dime on it. The mower's age and hours will come into play. Those Ariens walk behinds were good mowers. If the rest of the mower is in good shape, it might be worth putting a new engine on it. After all, you are...

    Kawasaki vs Kohler

It's basically a budget Rehlko/Kohler Command Pro engine. It doesn't have the hydraulic lifters. The air filtration is different. It doesn't have the Donaldson style air filter. It has a cyclonic type air box with a cylinder shaped filter with wire mesh surrounding it. It has a green foam...

    Oil brand and type

"There are two things to consider when it comes to oil, first is if it doesn't have an oil filter or pump, then you need to run a non-detergent oil. Most automotive oils are multi-weight. (5W-20, 10W-30, etc) most non-detergent oils are straight weight oils. (20W, 30W and so on)" That's bunk...

    chain saw chain recommendations?

I forgot to mention a couple of things. It's not uncommon for chainsaw bars to become twisted. This happens for several reasons. Improper operation. The bar getting pinched where the chain rides. Cheap Ryobi saws aren't something that I would buy. Good homeowner saws from Echo, Stihl, and...

Welcome to the Stihl Forum -- Check in Here First!

My name is Mel. I'm a long time Echo owner. Yesterday, I purchased my first Stihl weed trimmer, a FS-56CE.

    New FS-56 CE

Yesterday, I had to replace my 10 year old Echo SRM 225. It was tired. It would not stay running. I did everything possible to keep it in service. The compression was just too low to justify putting any more money in it. So, I went to my local Stihl dealer and bought a new FS-56CE. I truly hope...

New models SRM-225 doesn't have grease point.

The Stihl FS56 and FS70 no longer have a place to add grease. There are options. You can remove the trimmer head and put grease in where the drive cable attaches. If you are bold enough, you can drill and tap for an alemite fitting. Or, you can wait until the head is shot and buy a new head.

@rhkraft Not all riders are made by MTD. John Deere are made by John Deere in Tennessee. Husqvarna makes Husqvarna and Poulan. Craftsman once had riders made by both Husqvarna (AYP) and MTD. They are now all MTD made and found at Lowe's.

    Blades

I recommend that you go with the Rotary #15095 blades. These are notched high lift blades that are usually for Scag mowers. The will fit your Gravely. However, they are flat blades. That being said, I recommend that you get a set of blade spacers. The spacers need to be 1" OD x 5/8" ID x 1/4"...

    Mower Deck Lubricant Sprays

The best thing that you can do is to keep the underside of your deck clean. Wet grass buildup will rot the deck from the underside. Just about anything that is applied to the underside of your deck will wear off fairly quickly. I've tried several products with the same results. Buy you a good...

    Centre blade bolt breaking

Could be. The walk behinds do have four sling blades. Their zero turns appear to be what we Americans consider as residential mowers. Their top offering has a 54" deck and Hydr-Gear ZT-2800.
  25. M

    Centre blade bolt breaking

The bolts can be removed with a battery tech screw gun. However, it's best to install the bolt with a ratchet and socket. The mowers you are describing are small walk behind mowers and the bolts don't require much torque.

I guess that the blade and deck combination on the John Deere D100 just creates a lot of lift. I am really surprised how long that mower has lasted. Even the old Briggs 17hp single cylinder is still running great.

Rust wasn't the problem. It was sand blasting that did it. The soil at his place is very sandy. Even though there is good grass coverage, there's still enough sand to blow through the decks.

My dad was still cutting his yard into his 80s. He still maintained his JD100 too. After it got too hard on his hips, I cut it for him. My sister still has that mower and it's still cutting grass. It's now on it's third deck. It has to be over 20 years old.

    Riding Mower advise

A 42" riding mower could be a problem. It is hard to maneuver in tight areas. We don't know if the OP has gates to deal with. I used to cut my dad's one acre yard with a 42" John Deere rider. I dreaded that job. If his yard didn't have trees or flower beds, it wouldn't have been too bad. If he...
